Adding and Editing a Top Cut

How to add and edit a top cut for an event.

Updated this week

Adding a top cut during event creation

When creating a new event on the 2.0 Dashboard, under the Tournament section, select Swiss With Playoffs to add a top cut to the event.

Events with this option selected will automatically generate a top cut if they have more than 9 players.

Adding a top cut after event creation

To add a phase to an existing event, open the event and click on the Tournament tab. Then click on the "+ Add Phase" button on the right-hand side and select Top 8 Bracket or Top 4 Bracket from the dropdown:

A top cut can also be added this way to an ongoing event.

Editing a top cut during an event

Phases can be edited up until that phase begins. For example, in an event with a Swiss phase and Top 8 Bracket, the Top Cut phase can be edited during the Swiss phase, up until the cut is made to the Top 8.

Once an event has been advanced to the Top Cut, it can be reversed by using the Undo button in the top right of the Event Page up until the first result has been submitted. If changes need to be made to a Top Cut that has already started, the Undo button will revert the start of the phase to allow edits to be made to the Top Cut.

Please note that after the first result has been input, it will not longer be possible to undo the progress of the event and revert the Top Cut.

When the event advances from Phase 1 to Phase 2 (i.e. from the Swiss phase to the Top Cut), a module will appear where the Tournament Organizer can verify and make manual adjustments to the top cut.

Players can be moved between the Advancing and Eliminated columns by hovering on the right side of the player's name card and clicking the (x) to Move to eliminated or the crown to Move to advancing.
